Read E. Smythe II, 65, of Mishawaka, passed away Friday April 3, 2015, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, Indiana.
Read was born on March 15, 1950, in Oakland, CA, to Read E., Sr. and Hazel Fern (Myers) Smythe. He moved to the area in 1985 and married Mary Bunnell on October 1, 1996, she survives. Also surviving are his niece, Jennifer Mink; and his sister-in-law, Christine Bunnell.
Read was a proud United States Marine Corp. Veteran of Vietnam. He was a Nichiren Shoshu True Buddhist for 40 years. A memorial service for Read will be held at 3 pm Friday April 10, 2015, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Miller's Vets.
