CREVE COEUR - Gary L. Thompson Sr., 72, of Creve Coeur passed away at 9:16 a.m. Sunday, May 24, 2015, at his home, with his family by his side.He was born Jan. 31, 1943, in Canton, Ill., to Roy and Josephine Krouch Thompson. He married Peggy Louise Collins on July 20, 1994, in Peoria Heights. She survives. Also surviving are two stepchildren, Emily Kelley of Creve Coeur and Johnny (April) Kelley of East Peoria; two children, Patsy Clark of Peoria and Gary L. Thompson Jr. of New Mexico; one brother, Larry (Donna) Thompson; and four grandchildren, Riley Kelley, Mason Clark, Selena and Matthew Hostetter. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandparents, John and Helen Krouch, who raised him, and Fred and Lori Thompson.Gary worked for SC2 in East Peoria for the last eight years, until an injury prevented him from working. He enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, cooking and collecting eagles. Gary loved to tell jokes and never knew a stranger.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure .Gary's visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at the funeral home.
