ASHEBORO - Walter Lawrence Hobson, Jr., 75, of 1019 Avondale Ave., died Monday, April 22, 1996, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 1996, at First United Methodist Church, conducted by Dr. J.C. Grose, Jr. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro.
He was a native of Randolph County, attended Elon College where he is in the Sports Hall of Fame. He was a former member of the Jaycees and Civitan Club, a former team member and coach of the Legion Ball Team, played with Leaksville in the Carolina League, was a member of American League, was retired from Village Printing, was a member of First United Methodist Church, and was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth A. Hobson; daughters, Patricia H. Battle of Long Beach, Calif., and Judith H. Ennis of Greensboro; son, Joseph L. Hobson of Asheboro; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline H. Lowe of Fayetteville.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro.
