Dan H. McLean passed away at 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday at Laughlin Memorial Hospital after a two year battle with cancer. He was 67.

He was born November 4, 1947, a son of the late Arthur W. “Buck” and Ireene Cox McLean.

He was a 1965 graduate of Greeneville High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1969 and following graduation from college, he became the Assistant Golf Professional at Link Hills Country Club. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

Dan was co-owner of Ireene’s Flower Shoppe for 44 years.

He was a member of Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he was the greeter for the early service.

Dan enjoyed many hobbies and activities, including: golf, reading, bowling, target shooting, hunting, fishing, and all sports. He was a ham radio operator and a member of the Greene County Hunting and Fishing Club.

Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law: Alex and Shane McLean of Greeneville; one aunt: Patsy Pates; several cousins; special friend: Barbara Britton.

The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. on Friday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. James W. Lively and the Rev. Abby Cole Keller will officiate. Family and friends are asked to meet at Shiloh Cemetery at 10 a.m. Saturday for the committal service.

Active pallbearers will be Bobby Ward, Gary Ross, David Rader, Clayton Meyer, Steve Burns, Allen Jones, Wayland Bradley, and Bob Freshour. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
