Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church and surrounded by the love of his family, Joseph V. McGinn (Joe) passed away May 27, 2015, at the age of 83.

Joe was born April 22, 1932 in Sterling, IL. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1954 and received his commission in the US Army in 1955, where he served as a First Lieutenant in the Signal Core. He was a 46 year resident of Barrington, IL and a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and was known for his great devotion to his faith, his family, and his friends.

Joe is survived by his loving wife Suzie (nee Gaumond) McGinn; children, Jenny (Matt) Gelinas, Joe (Kory) McGinn, Matt (Jennifer) McGinn, Luke (Stacey) McGinn, and Mary (Chris) Dombrowski. He was the proud “Papa” of fourteen precious grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Joan (late Gene) Ostrander, and Patricia (E. Richard) Miller, brother, Martin (Janet) McGinn, and sister-in-law Clarise Harshman McGinn. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward J. and Verna (nee Harshman) McGinn, stepmother Emily (Forester) McGinn, and siblings, Teresa Barnett, and Ned, Bart, and Barbara McGinn.

Visitation will be 4-8pm, Thursday, June 4 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12pm, Friday, June 5 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 N. Ela Street, Barrington, where there will be visitation from 11am until the time of the mass. Burial in St. Michael Cemetery will follow the mass.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Joe’s name may be made to: Lake County Right to Life, 100 N. Atkinson Road, Grayslake, IL 60030.
