He was 78 years old and a native of Suhl, Germany. He was the first of the Heubleins to come to America arriving at the age of 27. After living in New York City for a short time, he went to Bridgeport where he procured work in a factory. Prior to coming to Hartford in 1866, he conducted a hotel in Seymour, M, Heublein opened a grocery store at Market Street and was successful in several years of business at that stand. Later, he gave up the grocery business and conducted the Parkview Hotel at 430 Asylum St. He retired from active business about 20 years ago and moved to Rocky Hill. Twelve years ago he purchased the place on Fairfield Ave and had since resided there, engaged in light farming.
Mr. Heublein founded the first section of the German Aid Society. He was a member of Herman Lodge #16, Knights of Pythias, Beethoven Lodge of Odd Fellows, and the Hartford Maennerchor. He was a member of the common council from 1880 - 1881.
