Lee graduated from Harrah High School in 1948, and also graduated from Tulsa Technical School, with a certificate in Radio Services.
He was drafted during the Korean Conflict, and served 2 years in Germany in the Army Corps of Engineers. He was a demolition technician.
After returning stateside, he worked as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local #1141.
He married Carolyn Honea on Aug 11 1956. Carolyn was the sister of Harold Kent Honea, who married Lee's sister Betty Whitnah.
Lee enjoyed the outdoors, spending a lot of time camping, fishing, hunting, etc. He was a lifelong OU fan who cheered on the home team in every sport. He especially loved OU football, and was a season ticket holder for many years.
Lee was preceeded in death by his wife, Carolyn Honea Whitnah , his parents Harry Waymire Whitnah and Hattie Whitnah and his sisters Betty Honea and Lillian Hargrove.
Lee was the father of Garrick and Malinda, and the grandfather of Gabriel Outland.
