Elias Morris served in Company M. 366th U.S. Infantry in World War One.

He entered the service on Oct 15, 1917 and served as 1st Lt. of Co. M. 366th Inf. They went to France in June 1918 as part of the 92nd "Buffalo" Division and served in the front lines. They returned home in Feb. 1919 and they were demobilized at Ft. Oglethorpe, GA. He was Honorably Discharged on April 17, 1919.

Elias is believed to be the son of Elias C. and Fannie E. Morris of Helena, AR.

In the 1940 census of Chicago, IL. Elias is listed as 54 born in AR. residing with his wife Nettie age 39 born in AL.

Elias died on Oct 23, 1950 and was buried at Lincoln Cemetery.

On Nov 1, 1950 Nettie R. Morris of 3541 S. Parkway, Chicago, IL applied for a government headstone for her husband's grave and in 1951 a headstone was shipped to Lincoln Cemetery to mark his grave as a veteran.
