Mrs. Elizabeth B. Curran, former chamberlain of the City of Plattsburgh, died yesterday (April 3, 1958) at her home, 102 Brinkerhoff St. She was 87 years old.
Mrs. Curran, the former Elizabeth Brombley, was a native of Valcour. She was born May 22, 1870, a daughter of Franklin and Martha (Moore) Brombley.
She graduated from Plattsburgh High School, where she was a charter member of the Minervian Literary Society.
She was active in the movement for women's suffrage, a law that became effective in 1920.
She was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Plattsburgh.
Mrs. Curran's husband, Alfred J. Curran, died in 1903.
She was appointed city chamberlain in 1926 during the administration of Mayor William E. Cross. She served in that capacity for several years until the administration of John H. McGaulley, and she was succeeded by Miss Susan A. Arthur.
Mrs. Curran is survived by one daughter, Marion Curran of 102 Brinkerhoff St., and one son, Alfred J. Curran of the Irish Settlement Road.
The body is at the R.J. Blixt Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
