Early this week he contracted a cold, but he was not confined to bed and Thursday he went downtown. Thursday the cold apparently developed into the grippe and his death followed unexpectedly about 7 oclock Thursday night. Mr. Purcell was one of the leading younger lawyers of the city. Since his admission to the bar in 1904 or 1905 he had been associated in the firm of which his father, his brother, Francis K. Purcell, and Francis Cullen, of Oswego are members. He was born in this city thirty eight years ago, and all of his life had been spent here . He was graduated from, the local high school and from Cornell University in the class of 1903. After his graduation from Cornell he entered the New York Law school which he attended a year. Mr. Purcell was unmarried.
