Martin Abloff, 84, Kansas City, MO, passed away Thursday, June 3, 1999, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, June 4, at Louis Memorial Chapel; burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, family suggests contributions to Temple B'nai Jehudah or a charity of one's choice.
Mr. Abloff was owner and operator of Chick-A-Dee Shops, children's clothing, in Raytown, MO, the Landing, and Waldo, from 1948 to 1966.
He was then a sales associate in the men's clothing department of Woolf Brothers, downtown and the Plaza, for 15 years, until they closed in 1991. Recently, he was with the Hy Vee stores in Overland Park, working part-time, until his death. He was a member of Congregation B'nai Jehudah, past member of its Brotherhood, and a member of the Mnookin-Brown Post of the American Legion. Mr. Abloff was born in Buffalo, NY, and came to Kansas City from Lawton, OK, in 1946. He was a U.S. Army veteran ofWWII. Mr. Abloff is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marian Abloff, of the home; son and his companion, Dr. Richard Abloff and Ms. Terry Richardson, Kansas City, MO; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Miles Cohen, Leawood, KS; and grandsons, David and Dustin Kaufman.
