Susan was the daughter of Capt. Francis Grimm and Mary L. Wright.

Susan Amelia and sister Annie Elizabeth were both "book folders" in their early 20's as listed in the 1860 census. This is probably the connection to the William Rogers family as they were connected to printing and publishing in New York..

Susan was first married to Zadock Pratt on Oct. 16, 1869 in Prattsville, New York. He was famous and notable millionaire in New York. It was Zadock's fifth marriage. He was 78 years old at the time of this marriage. In the 1870 census, Susan is living in Prattsville with her husband and a house servant. She is listed with her nickname "Susie" at age 30. Her husband is listed this census as 79 years, retired manufacturer. Sadly Zadock died soon after on April 5, 1871. As reported, "Pratt became ill with a fever while he and his wife were visiting relatives in Bergen (now Jersey City). While recovering, he fell down stairs, broke his thigh and died due to the injury. "

On 15 Mar 1892, Susan married John Nudelfill Briggs in Manhattan (New York Episcopal Diocese church record). John was the son of John Briggs and Phebe Weeks of New York.

She married John S. Wendell on 2 May 1903 in New York. And then on 6 May 1905, Susan changed her last will to sister Annie as sole executrix and recipient of her estate.

Susan died at her sister Annie's summer home in Massachusetts on 24 Jul 1908. The death notice cites her as the widow of John S. Wendell. I have not found any records of these last two husbands or any children.
