Son of Frederick and Elizabeth Kingsbury Crown; husband of Henrietta Thomas Crown. Three of his sons--Joshua, John and Nicholas--served with White's Comanches (Co. B, 35th VA, CSA) during the Civil War; another son, Oscar, served with the 2nd VA Infantry (the Stonewall Brigade).
