Katherine Louise Brigance passed from this life Sunday, May 31, 2015 in Maud, Texas. Katie was born March 21, 1938 to Robert Allen Baker and Mildred Lucille (Graybill) Baker in Marion, Ohio. She was 77 years, 2 months, and 10 days old.

Katie enjoyed crocheting, gardening, fishing and travelling. She also enjoyed reading and listening to Elvis Presley and Blue Grass music. After retirement she loved attending Blue Grass festivals. "Katydid," as she was known while serving as the VFW President for the State of Nevada, also continued to serve as a lifetime member of the VFW-Women's Auxiliary in Arkansas.

Katie leaves behind to cherish her memory six children, seven step-children, one brother, twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Katie is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Shirley, Sally and Betty; two brothers: Robert (Bud) and David (Butch), her husbands George Gaines and William Brigance; and one step-son: William Arnold.

Katie's life celebration will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements and cremation are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.

Katie's visitation will be 2:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron Arkansas. Family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m.
