Charles Manton Broad, Jr., a retired insurance executive, died at his home on May 28, 2015.

He was born on March 16, 1943, to Octavia Dyer Broad and Charles Manton Broad, in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He attended Jackson Public Schools and graduated from Millsaps College with a BS in Mathematics. He received an MBA from Mississippi College, and through his work in the insurance field earned certifications of CPA, M/FLMI, CLU, ChFC. His career included software development, serving as Senior Vice President of Andrew Jackson Life Insurance Company, and traveling widely in the United States as a Federally Licensed Insurance Examiner. A member of the Society of Financial Examiners, he won the state Gold Medal and received a national award for the CPA examinations. Upon his retirement, one of his professors described him as the brightest math student he had ever taught.

In his private life, his skill sets engendered great ability at the poker table. After retirement, Charles' brilliant mind was actively engaged in closely following and debating politics.

Survivors include daughters, Allison Lee Broad and Susan Ashleigh Dyer Bass, and son, Charles Manton Broad, III; sisters Anne Broad Stevenson and Octavia Dyer Broad; nephew George B. Stevenson; nieces Catherine Dyer Stevenson, Sarah Lansdale Stevenson, Octavia Dyer Fortier.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Lexington, Mississippi, where his parents, maternal grandparents and other relatives are buried.

Memorials may be made to the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children of Mississippi Medical Center.
