Sara was born in New York Mills on Nov. 4,1927 to Philip and Senia Koljonen. She had seven sisters and three brothers (Sonja, Andy, Delores, Bernice, Rueben, Esther, Celia, Druscilla, Susan, and Philip Jr.). In 1942, Sara moved to San Francisco where she met her husband Frank Conway. They married in 1951 and had three children, Joseph, Sonja and Jeffrey. Frank and Sara retired to Petaluma, Calif., where they enjoyed being grandparents to Casey, Kyle and Chad.
Bringing Sara's ashes from California are Sonja, Jeffrey, Julie, Casey, Kyle Conway and Sara's sister Sonja's family of Steven, Stephanie and Kimberly. Sara will be buried next to her husband on Oct. 15, 2011 at Woodland Cemetery in New York Mills. Philip Koljonen Jr. and Mike Nelson will preside over the services.
