He was born to James and Elaine Bradhurst on September 3, 1947.
He attended Wittenberg University and then went on to serve his country proudly, in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam War. He served in Vietnam from October 1968 to October 1969, was a member of the 5th Infantry, 31st Infantry and the 197th Infantry Brigade. Jim was also awarded the Bronze Star, a Purple Heart and was honorably discharged in May of 1974. He spent his career working as a Warehouse Manager for Sofo Foods and Seaway Food Town.
Jim was a fan of the Toledo Mud Hens and the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed watching all sports, traveling with friends and was an avid reader. He was also a grateful member of the Wayne group, heartfelt thanks to the fellowship. He loved his family and country and always stood up for what he believed. Jim was sometimes cantankerous and brutally honest but he will always be remembered as a true friend who would give the shirt off his back if you needed it.
He is survived by his brother, Dan (Vicki); sister, Ellyn (Mark) Shirk; 1 nephew; 4 nieces, their spouses and children. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH 43614, on Wednesday, June 10th from 3-6 p.m. Interment will be private.
