Son of famed comic Bud Abbott, half of 'Abbott & Costello' comedy team, who was adopted by Bud & Betty Abbott in 1942.
As an adult, Bud Jr's career in the film industry began in the late 1950s, when his father helped land him a job on the Universal lot as a film technician. During the early 1960s he segued to acting and appeared on several TV shows of the time, including "The Jack Benny Program" and "Bailey's of Balboa." By the end of the decade however, Abbott was back behind the camera and, after a short stint at Technicolor, settled at Hollywood Film Enterprises as an optical cameraman. He held that position 22 years. In 1988 he left the company and pursued various Abbott & Costello projects. Later, he formed Abbott & Costello Enterprises with his sister and Lou Costello's daughters.
Sadly, Bud Jr. died of apparent heart attack in Valencia, CA. in 1997. He was only 57. Bud was survived by sister Victoria, a daughter Diana, and a grandson.
