The obituary of Thomas Jasper "Jiner" Collins as published in the March 20, 1947, issue of The Mountain Eagle:

JINER COLLINS

Jiner Collins, died Monday, March 10 at the home of his son, Gilbert of Elizabethtown, Ky., after an illness of a few weeks.

He was the son of James and Rebecca Collins and had lived most of his life in Letcher County. He joined the Sandlick Regular Baptist Church a few years ago and was baptized by Elder Kirby Ison.

He is survived by five sons: Gilbert, Esker and Charlie of Elizabethtown, Ky., Homer in the U. S. Army at New Orleans, Ala., John of the U. S. Army Air Corps at Fort Worth, Texas and one daughter, Mrs. Luther Collins, of Ison, Ky., three brothers: Sam, Elisha and Will Collins of Whitesburg, Ky., and one sister, Mrs. Frank Davis of Alco, Tennessee.

The funeral party arrived Friday morning on the L. and N. and funeral services were held at Sandlick Baptist church at 10 o'clock by Elders: Dewey Sexton, Kerby Ison and Kernal Sexton. Burial followed in the family plot in the Sandlick cemetery by the Evans Funeral Home.
