He was born the son of Emil E. and Arlene F. Miller DeJaynes.
He married Cynthia M. Fenton on Sept. 28, 2002 in Galesburg, Ill.
Surviving are his wife; His mother Arlene F. DeJaynes, Galesburg; a son, Kabel E DeJaynes at home; (2) daughters, McKenzie C. DeJaynes and Gabriella M. DeJaynes, both at home; (4) brothers, Gregory L. (and Susan) DeJaynes, Bowling Green, Kentucky, Bryan E. (and Shawn) DeJaynes and Barry O. (and Kathy) DeJaynes both of Galesburg, Ill. and Robert M. (and Paula) DeJaynes, Oneida, Ill. He was preceeded in death by his father on Jan. 5, 1994.
He graduated from Galesbrg High School in 1983 and Bradley University, Peoria, Ill. in 1967. He played baseball for the World Friendship Series in the United States and Europe and the United States Baseball Team from 1983 to 1986. He also played baseball for the American Legion Post 285 in Galesburg, Ill.
In 1983, he declined the draft by the New York Yankees. He played for the Bradley Braves until 1987. He was then drafted by the Minnesota Twins and played for the Atlanta Braves and California Angels. After his baseball career, he played softball in the city league for the Rail City team. He was a Knoxville, Ill. youth softball coach and devoted many hours to youth basball, giving clinics in the area.
From 1989 to 1993, he and his father owned DJ's driving Range in Galesburg, Ill. Since 1999, he has worked for Garland Industries in Cleveland, Ohio, as a territory manager.
He atended Hope Wesleyan Church in Galesburg.
