Tarik Daoud, CEO of Al Long Ford, Inc., died Sunday afternoon at home with his wife, Helen (Long) Daoud, and his children by his side. Beloved father of Laurie Kandow, Jean Daoud Kizy (Michael), John Daoud (Monica), and Andrea Sarra (Hani). Adored grandfather of Brittany, Brianna, Nicholas, Alexandria, Isabelle, Michaela, Viviana, Giselle, Layal, and great grandson Brendan. Dearest brother of Janet Sarra, Heyam Hasso, joining his brother Faraj Daoud and sister Alice Keer with the Lord. Daoud was the great patriarch of his large and extended family. His love, generosity, and kindness are immeasurable and will be greatly missed by many.

Born in Basrah, Iraq, Mr. Daoud moved to the United States in 1956. He attended Highland Park HS where he learned to speak English, then graduated from Lawrence Tech. Soon after, he met Helen, the woman he knew he would marry the moment he saw her. He started his career in 1963, selling new cars and learning the business. In 1971, as general manager, he purchased Al Long Ford when Mr. Long passed away. Over the years Mr. Daoud was recognized many times as a leader in the automotive community and was nominated as 2005's Time Magazine Dealer of the Year.

Daoud was a man whose focus was on giving. A great philanthropist, his passions included education, the arts, and international diplomacy. Mr. Daoud was honored with an abundance of civic awards and was graced with being a recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for contributions made to America.
