Joan F. Applegate, 82, of Fort Wayne passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at home. Born in Michigan City, she was the daughter of the late Lawerence and Loretta (Milzarek) Luscomb. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven. She proudly served her country in the US Navy WAVES. She retired in 1994 from Uniroyal-Goodrich after 25 years of service. She was an avid online shopper, loved to bowl, but mostly loved her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Bruce) Sacks of Euless, TX, Cheryl (Jim) Szink and Deb (Joe) Kessler both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Tricia (Sarah Hook) Vardaman, Joseph W. Kessler III, Scott Sacks, Zachery Nagel, and Lauren (Alfredo) Perez; and great grandchildren, Max Vardaman and Morgan Sacks. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Junior H. Applegate in 1995; three brothers; and one sister.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Jude Catholic Church, 2155 Randallia Dr., Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior to service. Father Jake Runyon officiating. Burial in Harlan Memorial Cemetery, Harlan. Preferred memorials are to the Allen County SPCA.
