Carlo J. Pompei Sr., 67, of Mahanoy City, died suddenly Sunday at Harrisburg Hospital.
Born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital, he was the son of the late Anthony "Tony" and Dorothy Valenta Pompei.
He was a 1966 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and served with the Army during the Vietnam War.
He had been employed with Frito Lay for 35 years and was a former Mahanoy City borough councilman. He was also instrumental in assisting his mom and dad with the operation of Pompei's Restaurant.
He was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was a brother, Louie, who died in the line of duty serving as a police officer.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Heinzman; two sons, Carlo Jr. and his wife, Regina, Pine Grove, and Mario, Mahanoy City; a daughter, Maria Krieg and her husband, Jason, Middletown; two brothers, Tony and his wife, Donna, Long Beach, Calif., and Chester, Indian Wells, Calif.; two sisters, Dorothy Wargo and her husband, John, Rowland Heights, Calif., and Christine, Dillsburg; four grandchildren, Gino and Gianna Pompei, Isabella Krieg and Mason Dudash; nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends were invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church, Mahanoy City.
