My sweet little Olivia left us today. She was only 8 years old.

In 2006 my friend was thinking that Lizzie needed a companion. Edmund had passed away and I was working all day so at Christmas she brought me a 7 week old kitten. I really didn't want another cat but what could I do. I named her Olivia. I had had cats for years and Olivia "Livy" was so different from the others. She was definitely her own cat.
She came when called, she had a little chirp rather than a meow. She loved to greet people when they came in the door and you just might be able to give her a slight pat on the head. She did not welcome being touched and you NEVER tried to pick her up. that was a no no. Even I didn't pick her up much. She would fight and claw to get down.

Even with her funny little quirks she was the only cat I ever had that was a lap cat to me. In the evenings she would run to me on the couch and climb onto my lab giving Guy the evil eye the whole time. ( she barely tolerated him). If he so much as looked at her she would shriek and jump down. She would touch noses with him when he came in from outside but that was about it. At night she would run into the bedroom
and sleep with me unless the dreaded Guy wandered in there too. Sometimes she would stay on the bed if he stayed down at the foot.

Livy Loved rubber bands. When she was tiny I think she got one off of the paper and she was in heaven. I was always afraid she would get one in her mouth choke on it so I was always cautious when I had to take one off of the paper. If she heard me open a kitchen drawer she would come running, trying to paw through the drawer to get at one. Finally I had to make my house a no rubber band house. I would take
the band off of the paper outside and put it in the trash out there.

She loved to chase the laser mousey light. She could go forever after that silly light. Up the wall, down the hall onto the chair, couch. Where ever it went she was right after it. Livy loved when my brother in law Don would come down to visit. He would play with her and she even let him touch her once in awhile.

She was definitely a Mama's cat.She would let me scratch her under the chin and once in awhile I was able to cuddle with her. She liked people and would sniff at there hands but no touchy, touchy.

On Sat. the 6th of June I noticed she hadn't eaten so I started watching her. It had been hot so I thought she was just a bit under the weather. The next day (Sunday) it was the same. I tried the laser light and although she would watch it she never ran after it. Monday morning I took her to her Vet and after blood work was done the Dr. said she was a very, very sick cat.Her kidneys were shutting down and there was nothing they could do. She did say maybe just maybe we could buy her a couple of months but that was all. I was in total shock. she was only 8 years old.So There in that small room I held my sweet baby for the last time and watched her slip away.........I am heartbroken.

So is Guy
