Bernice A. Krueger, age 82, formerly of 9723 Newton Road, Manitowoc, died Monday evening, June 8, 2015 at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc.

Bernice was born on March 19, 1933 in the town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Adolph and Viola (Soukup) Witak. She was a graduate of Mishicot High School, Class of 1951. On June 21, 1958 she married Frederick H. Krueger at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. He preceded her in death on September 16, 1988. Bernice owned and operated the family dairy farm with her husband Frederick until his death. After his death, she went back to school acquiring an Associate Degree in Accounting. She then worked for the Cenex/Country Visions in Valders as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 2007. Bernice was past secretary for the Manitowoc County Homemakers. She volunteered much of her time at the Manitowoc Senior Center for the Meals on Wheels Program and enjoyed helping people during the tax season, as well as volunteering much time at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community. Bernice was a lifetime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton, and a former member of St. Joseph Parish, Alverno and St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing and truly enjoyed helping others.

Survivors include a special friend and caretaker: Mari Roedig and her husband David; the Piefer family, the Kutz family and cousins: Nancy Anderson, Ken and Debbie Rezek and the Rezek families of Maribel. Other relatives and many friends and the St. Thomas Apostle Community also survive.

Visitation will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton, from 4:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015 until 6:15 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry. Following the service, a light luncheon will be held. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Officiating at the committal service will be Sister Marlita Henseler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community or the donors choice.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Even though she had no biological children, she was blessed to mold and nurture children helping on the farm.
