Prominent County Business Man is Stricken on Day Previous As He Attends Auction
Death yesterday claimed one of the county's well-known business men when an attack of illness, which he suffered only the day previous, last night at 9:45 o'clock, took the life of Oscar Rodewald, town of Newton garage proprietor.
Mr. Rodewald was stricken as he was..(lineunderinked) tion being conducted on the farm of his brother, Town Chairman Henry Rodewald, and he died about 36 hours later after he was removed to his home.
Spent Life Here
Born in the town of Newton on April 13, 1880, Mr. Rodewald was a life-long resident of the community and would have been 50 years of age a week from tomorrow.
Always active in the affairs of his neighborhood, he never sought public office but was known throughout the county for his business and church activities and his
interest in his home.
On June 8, 1929, he married Miss Clara Stelling who with his aged father, Theodore Rodewald of the town of Newton, five children, Florence, Myrtle, Emmett, Milton and Elroy, all at home; three brothers, Henry at Newton,
Alvin at Centerville and Gustave at Newton and one sister, Mrs. George Sommers of Wausau survive him.
Death is Shock
Although Mr. Rodewald had been a sufferer from a stomach ailment for some time and had taken treatment, his condition was not regarded as particularly serious and
his sudden death was a decided shock to members of his family and to the community in which he spent his entire life.
Funeral services will be held from the family home at 1:30 o'clock and at 2 o'clock from the Reformed church of Newton on Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Klaudt officiating.
Interment will take place at the church cemetery.
