Sister and piano teacher of noted ragtime composer Joseph F. Lamb, Katharine R. Lamb died in her 70th year. The daughter of Irish immigrants James and Julia (nee Henneberry) Lamb, she was the second of their four children, and had been born and raised in the house her father, a Civil War veteran and successful contractor, had built for his family in Montclair. She and her younger sister Anastasia had long studied piano, and though both taught their little brother Joseph to play, Katharine's influence on the future composer was said to have been stronger.
