Josiah Gerber, a well known resident of this city, died at his home at Seventh and Carson streets, at 2 o'clock this morning, after an illness of seven weeks from typhoid fever. Up to Sunday he was progressing nicely and he was believed to be recovering, but yesterday a relapse set in and he sank rapidly. Mr. Gerber was born in West Penn, Schuylkill county, and was 49 years old. He has been employed as a pump runner at the Beaver Brook colliery during the past nine years. He has resided in Hazleton for three years. The deceased was a member of the Audenried Jr. O.U.A.M.
He is survived by his father, Isaac Gerber of West Penn, by his second wife, a son, Frank, and the following brothers: Henry, of Tamaqua; Amandus, Levi and Edward, of Hazleton; Jacob, of Freeland, and William, of Lansford.
The funeral will take place on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in Vine street cemetery.
