Candy had small roles in The Thief and the Stripper (1959), and Palm Springs Weekend (1963). She became a big fan of Troy Donahue after the latter movie.
She was the adopted daughter of Herman Newman & his wife TV broadcaster Ruth Lyons.

Candy died on board the SS Michelangelo as the ship passed near the Azores Islands. She was cremated when the ship returned to New York, and her remains were returned to Cincinnati.
