Benjamin Holloway Floyd relocated to Walpole from Townshend, Vermont with his parents Benjamin Floyd and Lydia Bond Floyd. He learned his father's blacksmith trade, and together they made every nail, hinge, and door latch in the old Congregational meeting house.
He married Elizabeth Gates on May 15, 1796 and had the following children:
Twin daughters Laura and Sophia, born Sept. 12, 1797. Laura died in childhood. Sophia married Roswell Pierce and relocated to Vermont.
Holloway, born 1799. Married Orpha Pierce and relocated to Vermont.
Eliza (March 6, 1801-April 23, 1885) She never married.
Harry, born July 15, 1803. Married Anna Clossen.
Benjamin, born May 1, 1805. He never married and died in Mexico.
Almina, born July 28, 1807. She married Joel Aldrich.
Lydia, born March 3, 1810 and died in childhood.
Mary (Aug 27, 1812-Oct 6, 1906) Married Levi Burt.
Laura, born 1815 and died in childhood.
