From her Class of 1964 Rapid City High School Classmate
Gayle J. Lierheimer, 59, of Mexico, Mo., died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Boone Hospital Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 30, at Mexico United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dale Stone officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Arnold Funeral Home. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 6, 1946, in Syracuse, Kan., to Burt and Doris Beebe Ward. She married Richard Lierheimer on May 10, 1970, in Columbia.
Gayle was a registered nurse. She had worked for Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital as a community care nurse. She had also worked for Arthur Center and Audrain Medical Center in Mexico Mo.
She was a member of Mexico United Methodist Church, PEO, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the Oncology Nursing Society.
She was also instrumental in establishing a faith-based nursing program.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Lierheimer, of the home; two children, Kara Cabezas and her husband, Xavier, of Flintstone, Calif., and Ernie Lierheimer and his wife, Erika, of Columbia; one granddaughter, Ella Rose Lierheimer; two brothers, Mike Ward of Clever and Dan Ward of Fayetteville, Ark.; and one sister, Dana Cufflin of Jacksonville, Fla.
Memorials are suggested to the Methodist church or Audrain Medical Center faith-based nursing program.
