Gen. Newton to Rest at West Point
The body of General John Newton, who spent most of his life in the Army, was taken from Calvary Cemetery, Long Island City, yesterday to West Point, for burial. The members of the General's family went to West Point in the morning, accompanied by Father Prendergast, who blessed the burial ground at West Point.
The body of General Newton's infant son, Francis, who died in 1873, was also transferred to West Point yesterday.
