Member, Indiana house of representatives, 1927-1929; Member, Wyoming house of representatives, 1945-1950; United States Congressman from Wyoming, 1951-1955, 1961-1965, 1967-1969. He was a grandson of President Benjamin Harrison, and a great-great grandson of President William Henry Harrison.

WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON

William Henry Harrison, known around Sheridan as "Bill", has served in the Wyoming House of Representatives for five years and was Wyoming's' lone congressman for ten years. He also was a House of Representative member for the state of Indiana for two years.

His great-grandfather, William Henry Harrison, served as President of the United States, as well as his grandfather, Benjamin Harrison. It is no wonder Bill went into politics.

He served in World War I and was admitted to the Indiana Bar in 1925, practicing in Indianapolis until 1936. About this time Wyoming "called" and Bill Harrison followed the call. He was admitted to the Wyoming Bar in 1937 and practiced in Sheridan.

While living in the Sheridan area he operated the IXL Ranch at Dayton and later the Circle Hat Ranch at Banner. The Circle Hat Ranch was the old James Terrill ranch.

Bill is married to Dorothy Foster Harrison and they have two children. Bill Jr. lived in Sheridan several years, but now makes his home in Washington, D.C. Their daughter, Maribeth Patrick, is still a Sheridan resident and is a school teacher.

Bill has served as president of the Sheridan Chamber of Commerce and a past National Executive Vice President of the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Harrison, now in his eighties, was born in Terre Haute, Indiana. He is now retired and enjoys traveling.
