"Death of Mr. Wm. H. Waddell. Mr. William Harrison Waddell died at his residence in Lexington at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, 21st inst. Mr. Waddell removed to Lexington from Charlottesville in the year 1884, and soon made a large acquaintance and commanded a strong hold on the affections of its citizens. He was born in Staunton, January 16, 1835, and was the son of Lyttleton Waddell, of the well know(n) Augusta county family of that name. In his earlier years he taught school in Staunton. Later he became associated with his brother, Lyttleton Waddell, in the conduct of the Charlottesville Chronicle. Removing from Charlottesville to Lexington he engaged for some years in the mercantile business. July 28th, 1859, he married Miss Maggie A. Burwell of Lewisburg, who survives him with three daughters and four sons. They are Mrs. Henry H. Myers and Miss Nettle L Waddell of Lexington, Mrs. Sam'l G. Anspach of Blackstone, Va., and Messrs. Thos. B., Harrington and James Gordon Waddell of Lexington, and W. Edgar Waddell of Charlottesville, ---Rockbridge Co. News."
