Early Life: Aksel was born to Hyrum and Sara Elvira Eriksen Tanner on September 16, 1928, in Salt lake City, Utah.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: On August 14, 1951, he married his sweetheart, Donna Fae Young, in the Salt Lake Temple. He served in the United States Navy at the end of World War II. He then served an honorable mission to Norway for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from Brigham Young University. He worked as a Seminary teacher for many years, teaching nine of his eleven children. As a faithful member of the Church, he served in many callings including temple worker. He was also a counselor in a branch at the Provo Missionary Training Center and then served as the branch president for a total of four years. Aksel Hyrum Tanner, of Salem, Utah, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away at home due to causes incident to old age. He was 86.
Survived By: His wife; eleven children: Carla (Randy) Tuckett, David (Kathren) Tanner, Lynda (Steve) Kondor, Cindy (Gary) Thatcher, Robert Tanner, JoAnn (Roger) Grady, Holly (Scott) Rogers, Lisa Cabrera, Gena (Paul) Ashby, Sarah (Sam) Quist, Kristi (Blake) Prowes; two sisters: Rose (John) Anderson, Betty (Kenneth) Farley; brother-in-law, Sterling Bylund; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: His parents, a sister, a grandson and a great granddaughter.
