Former Resident Dies in Dayton
Rev. S. M. Griffith Succumbs at age of 76 (Tuesday, February 18, 1930)

Following an illness of but a few days, Rev. Samuel M. Griffith, 76, a former resident of this city, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the national Military Home at Dayton. He was born in Clark County and had lived in Springfield for many years. He was an ordained minister of the methodist Episcopal Church and for some time after he retired from that activity he engaged in the real estate business in this city. He was a Spanish War veteran, having been for eight years chaplain of the Spanish War veterans of Ohio, and was a member of the Keifer Camp of Springfield and the Liscum Camp of Dayton.

The body is at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Bruce G. McMahan (Elizabeth Pinney McMahan), 339 Oakwood pl.The funeral will take place Thursday at 2 p.m. Burial will be made in Ferncliff cemetery.
