Born in Canterbury, CT, he was a son of the late Raymond L. and Mary Jane (Powers) Moffitt.
A Navy veteran of WWII, Ray was the owner of Moffitt Backhoe Service and had been installing septic systems since 1963 before retiring.
He leaves his children, former State Representative Victor G. Moffitt and his wife Bertha of Coventry, Edward J. Moffitt of East Greenwich, Donna M. Fleming and her husband Richard of Gilbert, Arizona, Cathy L. Moffitt of Coventry and Charlene Crossen and her husband David of Gold Canyon, Arizona; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was the father of the late Raymond E. Moffitt and the brother of the late Etta Arline Legault.
His Funeral Service will be held Monday morning at 8:45 am in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117), Coventry. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
