Stephen C. Moffitt, Sr., 62, beloved husband of Rosanne (Jalette) Moffitt, of New London Tpke., Wyoming, passed away at South County Hospital on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013.
Born in Westerly, he was a son of Ellis Moffitt, Sr. of Pawcatuck and the late Grace (Scheller) Moffitt.
Stephen was the Wyoming Postmaster with the US Postal Service for many years. A US Army Veteran of the 101st Airborne, he was an active member of the D.A.V., a member of Harley P. Chase VFW Post #1265 and a member of the N.E.H.S.A., with whom he volunteered a great deal of time.
In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed by his son, Stephen C. Moffitt, Jr. of Florida and his daughter, Margaret Moffitt of Richmond, R.I.; two brothers, Christopher Moffitt of Pawcatuck and Richard Moffitt of California. Stephen also leaves five grandchildren, Carmelo, Leonie, Greyson, Lily and Jack.
A visiting hour will be held on Friday from 9-10 a.m., in Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Funeral Service with Full Military Honors will immediately follow at 11a.m., in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dept. of RI DAV, 1 Capitol Hill, Level G, Providence, R.I. 02908, in Stephen's memory.
