Dave attended Little Lake School, and graduated from Hemet High School in 1951, where he lettered in basketball and baseball. He met his wife, Ruth Griggs, who was living in Hemet with her grandmother for the summer. At the time, Dave was living in a tent at a friend's house. Ruth's grandmother warned her not to get involved with the Wiltshire family!
Dave joined the army, and after Ruth graduated from high school, she and Dave married in 1954. When the Army transferred Dave to Germany, Ruth followed and they lived there for two years. Dave was attached to an artillery division and attained the rank of lieutenant.
In 1961 Ruth and Dave moved to Glendora, California where they raised their two children. Dave coached Little League baseball while Mike played. He started his own business, Wiltshire Urethane Foam, which Mike now owns.
Dave loved golf, and after he retired he usually played two or three times a week with his buddies, sometimes with his son, Mike. Just months before he passed, he scored a hole-in-one and celebrated for a week!
A graveside service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, Ca. 92518, March 6, 2015, 10:00-10:30. Due to cemetery space limits, no flowers please.
