Another old resident of Cuba has gone. Another of the first settlers of our town has been gathered to his fathers. Uncle John Jordan is dead. He died on Sunday night last (the 13th according to other records), at the age of seventy-five years. Mr. Jordan was one of the earliest settlers of our town, having been a resident here somewhere about forty years. he was born in Cherry Valley, in this state, but first settled near Geneva, from whence he came to this town. He was a man of warm and generous impulses, strictly honest in all his dealings, and had been a member of the Baptist Church for many years. By his indomitable industry he had accumulated a property sufficient to support him and his family in their declining years, and a year ago sold his farm, two miles south of this village, and purchased another near his only son's , Orlando Jordan, Esq, near north Cuba.
In the death of Mr. Jordan the poor and oppressed have lost a steadfast friend. and community one of its most excellent members. His funeral was held on Tuesday last, at the Baptist Church, in this village, and was attended by a large concourse of mourning relatives and friends.
