Jane was an educator for Vermilion Parish for more than 30 years.
Jane graduated from College of Sacred Heart Grand Coteau with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.
She started teaching high school math while achieving a Master in Mathematics from Louisiana State University and a Doctorate of Education from McNeese State University.
She advanced her career at Vermilion Parish School Board as a Math Supervisor.
Jane devotedly cared for her parents their entire lives with nieces and nephews of all ages calling her "Nannie Jane."
She was a devoted Catholic throughout her life, and was a member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Kaplan, LA.
Jane enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, France, Belgium, and Germany.
She also had a passion for needlepoint, crochet and sewing, and completed numerous complex, lovely projects.
She is survived by one nephew, Charles Monceaux of Kaplan; five nieces, Juanita Freeman (Warren) of San Antonio, TX, Ruth Cronan (Chris) of Lake Charles, Martha Stanley (Jimmy) of Georgetown, TX, Joan Carr (George) of Lake Charles, and Linda Gremillion of Houston TX; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Untim Abshire and Delta Herpin Abshire; her brother, J.M. Abshire; three sisters, Helen Faye Abshire, Nelda Abshire Libersat, and Lulda Abshire Monceaux; two nephews, Albert Libersat and Ralph Libersat.
Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 1:00 PM until the procession departs at 2:45 PM with a rosary being prayed at 2:15 PM.
