Service for James Dennis Schertz, 58, of Slidell, was Friday, Dec. 22, at First Baptist Church of Slidell. Rev. David Bradshaw officiated. Burial was at the Slidell Cemetery.
Schertz died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, in a Denton hospital.
He was born Jan. 27, 1942 in Decatur and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Slidell and had served as a Slidell Independent School Board member for 27 years.
Survivors include his wife, Jennie Mae Schertz; mother Oma Dell Schertz; daughter, D'Lynn Lea Schertz of Mesquite, two sons: Danny Schertz and David Schertz; two sisters, Ginger Louise Boone and Ann Schertz; grandsons Trey, Rance, Colby and Caleb Schertz; granddaughter Denae Schertz all of Slidell.
Pallbearers were Raymond Sherman, Brandon Boone, Bradley Boone, Edwin Pruett, Bert Pruett, Kerry Lee Schertz, Donald Shifflett and Donald Paddock.
