Haywood Rumsey Sr., a resident of Aberdeen, Maryland, died at the age of 62 at the ManorCare Health Services in Rossville, Maryland, from Congestive Heart Failure. He was a lifelong resident of Harford County, growing up in the "Chapel" Community. He was a Member of the Clarks Methodist Church. He graduated in 1960 from Central Condolidated School. He excelled in Muzic and Sports. He was a member of the Concert and the Marching Band, he played the drums. He also played Basketball in High School. He was voted "Most Courteous and Best School Citizen." After his high school graduation, he worked for Garden of Faith Cemetery in Parkville, Maryland and later he worked for Hillendale Golf and County Club in Phoenix, Maryland. In the late Fall of 1963 he worked for Ray Roope, owner of Harford Tire Service. The Management changed in 1966 as Leroy continued working there, working for the new owner, Sidney Mace. He retired from there in 1997 at the age of 55, after 34 years total of dedicated service. He had to retire due to failing health, going on disability.

Leroy had married Carolyn I. Murray in June of 1963, a few months before he started his Career at Harford Tire Service. They had three children together, two boys and a girl. A son, Thomas Haywood Rumsey died as an infant. Then a daughter, Deidre Denise Rumsey and another son, Haywood Leroy Rumsey Jr. Haywood and his wife Carolyn divorced in 1976 after 13 years of marriage. Leroy had formed a band with his cousins and performed throughout the mid-Atlantic Region. Originally called: "Fat Boy and the Comets," later known as, "The Soulations." Haywood is survived by: His daughter, Deidre Rumsey of Virginia Beach, Virginia, his son, Haywood Rumsey Jr. of Jersey City, New Jersey, Four sisters, Thelma McLain of Street, Maryland, Shirley Vaughan of Forest Hill, Maryland, Ariel Virginia Rumsey of Bel Air, Maryland, and Mary Anne Walker of Austin, Texas, and one brother, Paul W. Rumsey of Forest Hill, Maryland.
