Possibly born on Cumberland Co., Allen Twp., farm of his father, purchased in 1771, which is across the Susquehanna River from Harrisburg.

Served in the 4th Battalion, Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania Militia. He is listed on muster/payrolls of February 4, 1793 along with Christian Carver and John Garver (his brothers); Jacob Noop, John Noop, Benjamin Noop and Christopher Noop (his Knoop first cousins).

Fought in Indian Wars with General "Mad" Anthony Wayne in Ohio, early 1790s.

Elizabeth Township was formed in July 1807. It borders Clark County on the east. The Great Miami River flows through the township. No actual settlement was made within the township until 1800. MICHAEL CARVER moved from Staunton Township and purchased a half-section of land from John Cleves Symmes at a rate of $2.50 per acre. Benjamin and Christopher Knoop also established settlements during the same time period.

"In memory of Michael Carver, a native of Pennsylvania, who died December 2, 1842, aged 69 years, 2 months. He was one of the first settlers in this vicinity and emigrated to this county in 1799 where he lived respected and died regretted, leaving a large family to inherit his name and practice his many virtues."
