Dr. Lois Kathleen Hayden Tucker, age 92, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, died 17 Jun 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 am Monday, 22 Jun 2015 at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.

She was preceded in death by Ralph Preston Hayden, Sr. and Lawrence Kenneth Tucker.

Born in 1922, Lois Hayden (nee Weaver) spent her formative years in Bibb County, Alabama. After receiving a nursing degree from St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, she served as a nurse cadet during World War II at Bryce Hospital. Later she went to work at the VA Hospital in Tuscaloosa where she ended her nursing career after 42 years as the Chief of Nursing Education.

The mother of three sons, she went back to school after they were grown and earned her doctorate in education from the University of Alabama.
She is survived by her three sons, seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
