VERONA, Wis. - Melvin B. Baumgartner, age 94, passed away peacefully at his home at Willow Pointe on Friday, March 30, 2018. Melvin was born on April 2, 1923 in Exeter, WI to Conrad and Christina (Meier) Baumgartner. He married the love of his life, Ellen McMahan, on May 29, 1945 at St. Raphael Cathedral in Madison.
Melvin farmed in the Verona area for over 25 years and was later an assistant manager at Blain’s Farm & Fleet in Madison. Melvin was a long time member of The Knights of Columbus and St. Andrew Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling, dancing, fishing, wood working, playing cards, bowling, and watching the Brewers and Bucks. Melvin was a very humble, patient, loving husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa and cared for his family very much.
Melvin is survived by his children, Linda Brown of Cross Plains, Stephen of Hartland, and Karen (Jeff) Erickson of Verona; grandchildren, Dawn (Todd) Shea, Melanie (Chester) Tourdot, Brian (Donya), Daniel, Bradley Erickson, and Krista Erickson; great grandchildren, Briana Shea, Brooke Shea, Eagan Tourdot, Zachary Tadin, Andrew Tadin, Leslie Tadin, and Cole; and brother-in-law, Francis (Rosie) McMahan. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years; son, Mark; five brothers and six sisters.
