James Stevens Brower, Jr was in the 7th storied first Minnesota Infantry Regiment of the Union Army (Civil War) and was mustered out after serving in all battles of that unit from 1860 to 1863, including the epic battles at Gettysburg. A resident of Todd County, Minnesota (movedfrom Washtenaw County, Michigan in 1860), he served for nearly 3 years in the unit. After the war, he was involved in Todd County and statewide politics in Minnesota and logging, and became a devout Seventh Day Adventist. His gravestone is missing from the Evergreen cemetery, though newspaper obituaries confirm that he is buried there. He is most likely buried near or next to Abraham Duryea and Mary Brower, with Mary's headstone also missing - D. Peterzell
