Syracuse, Onondaga Co., NY—Friday, 15 February 1867


      Sudden Death—We are pained to announce the sudden death of one of our old citizens, Mr. James Alvord, of Salina. The deceased had been complaining for several days past of pain in the region of his heart, but not thinking it of any serious importance, he kept up and attended to his business as usual, until yesterday morning, while shoveling snow from the sidewalk in front of his premises, on the Bridgeport Plank Road, he fell, and expired almost instantly.      His funeral will take place from his late residence next Sunday afternoon, at one o'clock.


      The deceased is 71 years of age, and Paternal nephew of Dioclesian Alvord.****

Dioclesian Alvord is rather famous in this area...
