Sara Marie is the daughter of Harry Lewis and Mary Alice (Hice) Pebley.

Mary is the daughter of Robert Perry and Mary Virginia (Maus) Hice.

On 26 Nov 1912, Mary and Harry were married in Ebensburg, Cambria, Pennsylvania.

Sara's paternal grandparents are Samuel and Sara (Beabes)Pebley.

Sara's father, Harry Lewis Pebley was a Pvt in the US Marines. He was discharged 3 Apr 1919 in Poland due to osteo carcinoma of the right femur and in 1926 he was living in Sawtelle, California at the United States National Homes for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers as a single man. He died 16 Nov 1928.

Sara and her sister Dorothy were in the 1920 US census living as boarders in Cresson, Cambria, Pennsylvania, where many young girls were boarding.

Their mother Mary was listed in a different 1920 Pennsylvania census as a boarder.

In 1930 Sara and Dorothy are listed living with their mother in Detroit, Michigan. Their mother was widowed.

Sara was married to Victor William Avery on 20 June 1938 in Detroit.

In 1940, Mary Alice and Dorothy were still living in Detroit.

Sara's mother died 09 Feb 1950.
