My father was born at home in Marshfield, Webster County, MO to parents Henry Edward "Ed" Evans and Mary Helena "Lena Edwards Evans. He graduated from Marshfield High School in 1948 and served in Guam during the Korean War as Active Duty Navy from 1952 to 1956. After his discharge from the Navy, he remained on Naval Reserve status until the early 1970's, where he spent his two week active duty time on the southern coast of Spain. After his active duty discharge, he moved to Wichita, Sedgwick County, KS, where he continued his education in electrical engineering. He was employed by Boeing Aerospace in Wichita and was then transferred to Huntsville, Madison County, AL, so that he could be on the team to work on the Space Program. After spending several years in AL, he was then transferred to JSC in the Houston, Harris County, TX area, where he continued working on projects for the Skylab Space Program. After the end of the SkyLab Program, he then was employed by Stewart and Stevenson Services as an electrical engineer. As a part of his duties with S&S, he was sent all over the world to work on diesel engines, primarily with Naval Contracts. He retired in 1985 after suffering a stroke and was attended at home by his family until his death in 1995.

He met and was married to his wife Louise while he was working in Wichita. They had three children together.

He was unable to live long enough to see his four beautiful grandchildren.
